Ch-ch-channelssss

You don’t need to think of water when you’re thinking of these kind of channels. These channels get you from here to there without ever leaving your computer. Oh wait, maybe you do need to leave your computer to create some buzzing content, but anyway, you get the idea. What we’re talking about are the different channels in social media.

As you respond to this post, give a brief description of why one particular channel would be better suited than another to reach a target audience, no matter who the sender of the message is.

In the mean time, here’s my favorite channel:

It may be a channel, but not exactly what we're talking about for social media.

  1. I think that Facebook is the best because it is the biggest social media channel with over billion users. You can engage people, give them valuable information, and avoid hard sales pitches. It is a very personal channel that can reach up to billion people. It is a great way to reach many different people at the same time.

  2. I think that Facebook is the biggest social media channel because it is the easiest way to get across for people to look through your stuff. It is a big deal they have 1.15 billion monthly active users. You get to see updates, pictures, location, comments, videos and so much more that other social media accounts can’t.

  3. I think to find the best site would just depend on your goals and objectives. But if I had to choose one it would be Facebook because it seems to offer more. By more I simply mean that we are able to write more compared to Twitter. It also allows you to have groups and pages.

  4. The individual would need to look at their goals, and find out who their audience is. If it is personal, Facebook is a great tool, if you like more artistic avenue, you own personal blog would be a great way to get your message out. But as social media evolves, all the different avenues can be linked, and your audience can decide what social media to be enlightened with.

  5. I think Facebook is the best right now because you can link to other social media sites like Youtube, Instagram, etc. Also, most social media sites or apps you use gives you the option of logging in through Facebook. Myspace, for goodness sakes, lets you log in through Facebook!

  6. I agree with all previous comments, I believe Facebook is the most all-around effective social media channel. I have noticed a LOT of the “like and share to win” type posts on Facebook – and honestly, its genius. Small boutiques (in the middle of no where) have hundreds of followers, and all at the cost of one sweater or cardigan. It is pretty much guaranteed that you will see “like us on Facebook” at the end of any advertisement. Facebook has definitely dominated the social media world. It also helps that you can cross post and have all of your instagram, tweets and pins display on your timeline.

  7. The channel you use should depend on the audience you are trying to reach. Overall, Facebook does have a large market, and it reaches more of a variety of people. Twitter and instagram seem to attract more of a younger audience, and LinkedIn is mostly for professionals. If you are trying to reach a large audience, Facebook would be the best choice. Facebook does not require much, and you are not limited by text limitations, or media limitations.

  8. I must agree with the previous comments. Facebook is the largest social media in the world. Unlike other social medias Facebook (FB) doesn’t focus on only one element. FB is used for posting comments, catching up with old friends, uploading pictures/video and sometimes used for advertising.

  9. It all depends on the audience you are trying to reach. Younger people might be better reached through a photo platform like Instagram and older might be better reached through Facebook or MySpace. Myspace, allowing Gen X to feel cool since the 2000’s!
